Garden Explorers
Free weekly garden activities for children ages 4+ and their caregivers. Young explorers help care for our museum garden, discover how plants grow, and enjoy simple activities inspired by nature.

Teddybear Picnic & Parade
Monday, September 7 | 1:00–3:00 p.m.

Bring your favourite teddy or stuffed friend to Strathma for a special back-to-school adventure!
Make a bear headband, enjoy a story and join our sidewalk parade to Big Willow Park for games, a scavenger hunt and picnic treats.

Designed especially for children beginning Kindergarten, but all ages are welcome.
Families are encouraged to bring a picnic blanket and their own drinks or snacks.
​
Rain or shine. In poor weather, the parade will be cancelled and the activities will move inside the museum.
Orange Shirt Pin Workshop
Friday, September 18 6-8 pm
Tickets $45 | Registration Required
Join Cree-Métis artist Connie Kulhavy for a hands-on beading workshop at Strathma.
Connie will guide participants step by step as they create their own beaded Orange Shirt pin.
​
Connie is an Edmonton-based artist whose intricate beadwork is rooted in healing, storytelling and sharing Métis culture. She regularly leads community workshops, and her work is held in collections across Canada and internationally.
​
Tea will be served during the workshop.
​
Space is limited to 20 participants. Advance registration is required.

Explore 100 years of flight and aviation history in Strathcona County and Cooking Lake Airport. This community curated exhibit shares local stories, photographs, memories, and connections to the people and places that shaped aviation in the region.

Strathma’s Aviation Speaker Series explores the people, places and stories that have shaped aviation locally and across Canada.

Each event includes a 30–40-minute presentation followed by a Q&A. Admission is by donation.

Drawing from her book, Wind Beneath Their Wings: One Hundred Years of Flight in and around Canada’s Oldest Operating Airport, Kimberly will share stories of the pioneers, bush pilots and aviation adventures connected to Cooking Lake Airport.
