Drawn Together

Current Local Artist Spotlight: Jane Henderson
We invite artists to submit proposals for a chalk mural installation in our museum lobby gallery. The mural should be a design that enhances the space, inspires community engagement, and reflects the unique spirit of Strathcona County. Themes could include:

-
Example: A mural depicting the evolution of Strathcona County, from its early days to the modern era, featuring elements like agriculture, indigenous heritage, or industrial development.
-
-
Nature and Environment - The natural landscapes and ecosystems of Strathcona County. The area’s rivers, parks, and green spaces could be central to the mural.
-
Example: A depiction of the local wildlife, forests, rivers, or seasonal changes in the region, capturing the harmony between nature and human activity.
-
-
Futurism and Growth - Explore the future of Strathcona County and how it is evolving. This theme can focus on technological advancements, sustainability, and urban development.
-

-
Abstraction and Geometry - Incorporate abstract forms and geometric shapes that can both engage viewers and enhance the architectural features of the lobby space.
-
Example: A dynamic mural filled with geometric patterns, flowing lines, or vibrant color fields that could represent the flow of energy or movement through the community.
-
As our displays rotate twice a year, this offers a dynamic opportunity for artists to showcase their work and interact with a diverse audience. In addition to the mural, artists selected will receive an honorarium and are welcome to sell their displayed works, and will receive 100% of the proceeds, providing a platform to connect with the community and share their creative expressions. Strathma will not make any profit from these sales.
Visit us to enjoy the rotating art and be part of an ever-changing cultural experience.
